I feel like in many ways, Christa and I are decent parents. We usually feed our kids, we teach them important things like how to use the TV remote, and we draw the line at one dessert per meal. However, one area where our parenting skills have not come easily is with naming our children. While we do ultimately figure things out, this is a painful process for us.
We are not hiding anything, we are only a few hours away from the big arrival and we don't have a clue what we we are going to call the kid.
Please help! Vote in our poll to the right, give us ideas for other names in the comments section, send financial contributions--any help will be accepted to help us solve this crisis.

I'd suggest looking at the census bureau popular names list (you can select any year) and NOT to choose a name that 4 other kids in his kindergarten class will have: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ But....ultimately....when the little guy makes his debut, he may not look like any name you are considering, or he may look exactly like one you are. Advice: Once you think you have a name, it may be wise to get some people's opinions of it...they may see something you don't like initials that will cause the kid embarrassment the rest of his life, or the same name as an evil character in a movie you've never seen, etc.

ReplyDeleteXander will always make me think of Xander in Buffy the Vampire slayer. But then Dax makes me think of Jadzia Dax in Deep Space 9 :)

ReplyDeleteWell, he may feel left out if his other brothers have biblical names and he doesn't. How about Isaac? Ace is good for a middle name.

ReplyDeleteI'm not the best one to give suggestions since we can never come up with a boy name either. However we love names that end in 'son, but it doesn't work with the last name. If it did our little boy would be Wilson, Emerson, or Harrison.
ReplyDeleteI really like the name Jack and Ace, but sometimes you just have to see the kid first to decide. (Noah could never have pulled off the name Cooper and Cooper is just to out of control to be a Noah)... hopefully you'll know when you see him.
How about Dexter Dastrup, or Derek Dastrup??

I like the name Ty. I would love to have a nephew named after me (even if only chronologically).
